Switzerland: Severe Thunderstorm Hits Zurich, Leaving One Dead and Several Injured

A severe thunderstorm swept through Zurich on Friday evening, June 19. The storm hit at around 6 p.m. as commuters filled the streets and restaurants during the evening rush hour, bringing strong gusts, lightning, and heavy rainfall. A 16-year-old girl died in the city after being struck by a falling branch.

Anti-G7 protesters clashed with police in Geneva, Switzerland on Sunday, June 14, on the eve of the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, France. Demonstrators threw bottles, stones, and firecrackers, while police deployed tear gas and water cannons to disperse the crowd. A car was also set on fire during the unrest.
