In Kagawa Prefecture, a region known for the delicious, low-priced Sanuki ''udon,'' some of the 900 Sanuki noodle shops are being forced to raise prices to stay in business. At Udon Tanaka, a noodle shop in Takamatsu (photo), the price of a bowl of plain soup ''udon'' will go up 20 yen to 280 yen from Oct. 1. ''Can't be helped. The price of tempura oil, salt has gone up as well,'' says Udon Tanaka owner Sadatoshi Tanaka.
