Takayama Festival begins in Gifu Prefecture

TAKAYAMA, Japan - A total of 10 colorfully decorated floats are gathered around the Hida Takayama Sakurayama Hachimangu Shrine in the city of Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, on Oct. 9 for the annual two-day autumn festival. Some 20,000 people are expected to visit the city to watch the festival.

ONISHI, Japan - Tourists trek under winter cherry blossoms at the Sakurayama Park in the town of Onishi in Gunma Prefecture, north of Tokyo, on Nov. 15.
