The town and coastline of Mogi is seen in the mid-Meiji Period. The pier built for the steamers to Unzen in 1901 at the edge of the cape is not apparent yet. Visible half-way along the cape is the Nagasaki Mogi Hotel, a resort for foreign visitors. It is said that crew members of war vessels harboured in the Nagasaki used to march from Nagasaki to Mogi and stay in this hotel.
