Emperor Showa's annals completed in 24 years

TOKYO, Japan Kyodo - Japanese Emperor Hirohito (R) meets Gen. Douglas MacArthur at the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo on Sep. 27, 1945. HIROSHIMA, Japan - Emmanuelle Riva, the French actress who starred in the film ''Hiroshima Mon Amour'' that was shot while Hiroshima was still struggling following the 1945 U.S. atomic bombing, is greeted at a movie theater in Hiroshima on Dec. 5 on revisiting the city after a period of 50 years. The visit by the 81-year-old Riva was timed to coincide with an exhibition of photos she took during the shooting of the film in Hiroshima in September 1958.
