Kanden Engineering's Newly Introduced VR Device for Experiencing Danger

Kanden Engineering Co., Ltd. (Kita Ward, Osaka City) expanded its facilities for experiencing dangerous acts during construction, inspection, and diagnosis of electrical equipment, etc., and opened the new "Safety and Technology Training Center" (Settsu City, Osaka Prefecture) on April 14. The facility will be used to train about 600 people a year, including all employees and subcontractors. The company analyzed past occupational accidents such as electric shock, crashes and falls, and equipment accidents caused by mishandling, and compiled a booklet with mottoes and lessons learned, "100 Failures of Engineering Version," which took two years to complete. The related investment was about 45 million yen. Mr. Aoshima hopes that the booklet and the facility will "help people improve their sensitivity to danger with their minds and bodies. Prince Shotoku (574622) - also known as Prince Umayado or Prince Kamitsumiya - a semi-legendary regent and a politician of the Asuka period in Japan who served under Empress Suiko. The son of Emperor Yomei and his consort, Princess Anahobe no Hashihito, Shotoku commissioned the Shitenno-ji (temple) in Settsu Province (present-day Osaka) after his military victory against the powerful Mononobe clan. The Prince was an ardent Buddhist and is traditionally attributed the authorship of the Sangyo Gisho or "Annotated Commentaries on the Three Sutras". Date: 7th century

OSAKA, Japan - Police release three videotape shots Feb. 19 taken from a security camera that recorded a man suspected of having been involved in the December 1999 kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl using a photocopying machine at a convenience store in Osaka Prefecture. Sayaka Teranishi was forced into a car by her kidnapper on her way home from school and was held for about 42 hours before she was released unhurt near her home in Settsu, Osaka Prefecture.

Sayaka Teranishi, a second grade pupil, told police she was forced into a car on her way home from school Dec. 20. She was held until the morning of Dec. 22 before she was released unhurt near her home in Settsu.
