Monks' 'Shakuson Five' band gains popularity

OTARU, Japan - Photo taken Feb. 5 shows the 'Shakuson Five' rock band comprising five Japanese monks in Otaru, Hokkaido. The group is becoming popular since it released a compact disk in November 2002 of material on the life of Shakuson, or Buddha, as well as human existence. The band, formed six years ago and named after the famous U.S. group 'Jackson Five,' uses the music in their missionary work.
