Li Shengtao flew his solo unpowered paraglider at an altitude of 8,000 meters from the South Col at 09:14 local time and landed at 09:38 at the designated area around the base camp at an altitude of 5,400 meters, according to the five-member Chinese team. Li's flying expedition was permitted by the Nepali government and he became the first Chinese to glide off Mt. Qomolangma from the South Col.
