On August 9, 2025, in Jiujiang, Jiangxi province, a video captured a Shiba Inu entering the river for the first time. The dog wore a special life jacket, keeping its body afloat. It seemed nervous, barely moving as it tried to stay balanced on the water. The little Shiba appeared frightened but curious, needing more practice to swim confidently.

Popular Dog "Maru" To Promote Tourism

MIE, JAPAN - NOV. 17: The central Japan prefecture of Mie has assigned a dog called Maru as "ambassador" to promote regional tourism ahead of the Group of Seven summit the prefecture is hosting in May 2016. With the help of the 8-year-old male Shiba Inu, whose images posted on photo-sharing site Instagram are followed by 2.1 million people in around 100 countries, the prefectural government aims to draw more tourists from overseas.
