TOKYO, Japan - Kyosuke Shinozawa, new governor of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), speaks at a news conference June 29. The JBIC is Japan's main foreign aid agency. Shinozawa, 64, a former vice finance minister, became deputy governor of the JBIC in 1999 when it was created through merger of the Export-Import Bank of Japan and the Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund (OECF).

UTSUNOMIYA, Japan - The Utsunomiya District Court sentenced Kazuo Shinozawa (photo) to death on March 19 for murdering six female employees at a Tsutsumi Jewelry Co. shop in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, on June 11, 2000 by setting fire to the store and stealing jewels worth 140 million yen.

Man suspected of burning 6 women to death sent to prosecutors

UTSUNOMIYA, Japan - Kazuo Shinozawa (R), arrested on suspicion of burning six women to death at a jewelry shop in Tochigi Prefecture on June 11, is sent to prosecutors June 14. Shinozawa, 49, of Oyama in the same prefecture, is suspected of murdering the women by locking them up inside a shop of the Tsutsumi Jewelry Co. in Utsunomiya, north of Tokyo, and setting the shop on fire.
