Daimaru Matsuzakaya Department Store, a subsidiary of J. Front Retailing, will procure 100% of the electricityused in the Daimaru Shinsaibashi Main Store (Chuo Ward, Osaka City), scheduled to open in late September, from renewable energy sources. The store will also switch to electric vehicles (EVs) for company use. In 2030, J-Front as a whole plans to reduce its CO2 emissions by 40% from the 2005 level, and by 2050, to zero. The main building in Shinsaibashi will introduce the "Hydro Eco Plan" derived from hydroelectric power generation by Kansai Electric Power Co. Because of the hydroelectric power generation, no CO2 emissions will be generated.
