The Moji Harbour

The Moji Harbour

Moji is one of the entrance ports to Kyushu, facing the Kanmon channel and Shubo nada. It flourished as an important crossroad for transportation from the olden days, but during the Edo, it was only a lonely village. Development began with the establishment of the Port Building Company in 1889. This photo is believed to be that of the initial stages of the development of the port.==Date:unknown, Place:Moji, Photo:Ogawa Kazumasa, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number8‐33‐0]
