CHINA-TIANJIN-IRON AND STEEL ENTERPRISES-GREEN TRANSITION (CN)

(230714) -- TIANJIN, July 14, 2023 (Xinhua) -- This photo taken on July 12, 2023 shows a sintering flue gas desulfurization and denitrification project of the New Tianjin Steel Group in Tianjin, north China. To achieve carbon reduction and improve energy efficiency, Tianjin has pushed forward the comprehensive transformation of its iron and steel industry chain in recent years. Iron and steel producers are encouraged to reform their energy mix, upgrade technology and develop hydrogen-fuelled transportation. The iron and steel enterprises still in operation in Tianjin have all completed the ultra-low emission transformation. As a result, the energy consumption per unit of the increased value of industrial enterprises above designated size is in steady decline. (Xinhua/Zhao Zishuo)

Large-scale vacuum brazing furnace installed by Pureron Japan.

Pureron Japan (Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture) started operation of "the fourth factory" that manufactures the metal processing precision parts. The production system is strengthened by investing 2 billion yen. Pureron Japan manufactures filters and other products, mainly sensors for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Semiconductor-related products account for 80% of the company's sales, and industrial and medical equipment accounts for 20%. It was judged that the market of the precision equipment related to the semiconductor would grow in the world, and it was decided to strengthen the production system greatly together with the medical equipment to be strengthened from now on. The fourth plant has a floor space of 2,100 square meters. (September 2, 2019, Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture; Credit: Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun / Kyodo News Images)

MM Catalyst, an auxiliary catalyst device developed by Haiba Iron Works in collaboration with Nichidai Filter

Haiba Iron Works (Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture), in cooperation with Nichidai Filter (Ujitawara Town, Kyoto Prefecture), a stainless steel diffusion bonding (sintering) company, has developed an auxiliary catalytic converter "MM catalyst" that shortens the activation time of the main catalyst for exhaust gas purification by about 40%. The MM catalyst is manufactured by loading precious metals onto a structure made of sintered stainless steel wire mesh. Compared to the honeycomb structure that is commonly used in catalysts, the reaction space is more complex and the contact efficiency of exhaust gas is improved. Noboru Ishizawa, director of the technology department at Haiba Iron Works, said, "We will further refine our technology through repeated tests using actual machines (for practical use). On July 10, 2019, the head office of Haruba Ironworks in Kakegawa City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
