The GUM ice rink has an area of 2,700 square meters. Its refrigerant pipes make sure its ice does not melt even at the temperature of 10 degrees Celsius above zero. It will remain open until February 28, 2023. According to mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin, over 200 skating rinks with artificial ice are expected to operate this winter in the Russian capital. Traditionally, skating rinks with artificial ice start operation in November, and when cold weather becomes stable, the ones with natural ice will open as well.
