Kaesong World Heritage

PYONGYANG, North Korea - Photo taken in Kaesong, North Korea in September 2013 shows Sonjuk Bridge that was built during Koryo Dynasty (918-1392). Jeong Mong Ju, Confucian scholar in late years of the dynasty, was assassinated at the bridge. The UNESCO World Heritage Committee in June 2013 decided to inscribe historic monuments and sites in Kaesong, which was the capital of the dynasty, on the U.N. agency's prestigious World Heritage List.

TOKYO, Japan - This December 2007 file photo shows Sonjuk Bridge in the ancient city of Kaesong in North Korea. The World Heritage Committee of UNESCO decided June 23, 2013, to add historic monuments and sites in Kaesong to the U.N. agency's World Heritage List.
