Prototype sound-absorbing material mixed with Mitsubishi Chemical's XAI

Prototype sound-absorbing material mixed with Mitsubishi Chemical's XAI

XAI, the ultra-fine fiber proposed by Mitsubishi Chemical as a sound-absorbing material, is less than one-tenth the fineness of ordinary fibersfor sound-absorbing materials. By mixing 10% of XAI with conventional materials such as felt, it is possible to achieve the same sound absorption performance with about half the weight of conventional materials alone. Asahi Kasei's rigid sound-absorbing foamed products

Asahi Kasei's rigid sound-absorbing foamed products

Asahi Kasei has developed a material made of foamed polyamide hollow beads of 2 mm to 3 mm in diameter. Taking advantage of its hardness and high heat resistance, the company is proposing the material as a component for engine compartment peripherals. The material, which is less than two centimeters thick and is combined with the company's non-woven fabric "Precise," has twice the sound-absorbing property at 1,000 Hz compared to a melamine foam material of the same thickness. In addition to preventing the transmission of sound, the material can also reduce the reflection of sound inside the container when it is processed into a container and the source of sound is placed inside.
