US: Storm System Brings Strong Winds and Hail to Austin Area

A storm system moved through the Austin area on Friday, August 28, bringing strong winds and intense hail. The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement for the area.

UK: Massive Fire Breaks Out at Mitcham Industrial Site

A large fire broke out at an industrial site in Mitcham, south London, on Wednesday, August 26, spreading to about eight hectares of surrounding scrubland. Nearby residents were advised to keep their windows and doors closed as the blaze was producing a large amount of smoke.

Canada: Lightning Storms Disrupt Flights at Vancouver Airport

Overnight lightning storms disrupted operations at Vancouver International Airport, forcing a pause of more than five hours, with more than 50 flights cancelled and at least 53 delayed into Sunday, August 23.
