KYOTO, Japan - Photos show Walter Gehring (upper L), professor at the University of Basel in Switzerland, Charles Hoare (upper R), professor emeritus at Britain's Oxford University, and Paul Ricoeur (lower L), professor emeritus at the University of Paris and at the University of Chicago, who were named June 23 the 16th annual laureates in this year's Kyoto Prizes in recognition of their contributions to mankind's scientific, cultural and spiritual betterment.
