France: Southern Towns Flooded as Severe Storms Hit

Heavy storms hit southern France on Sunday, September 21, causing flooding in Marseille, Cassis, and surrounding towns. Major sports events, including the OM-PSG football match and a Toulon-La Rochelle rugby game, were postponed. Thousands of households lost power, and flights at Marseille-Provence Airport were disrupted. Météo-France reported intense rainfall, with up to 127 mm in Avignon and 94 mm in Toulon in just one hour.

On Sunday, September 21, the Var department in France was placed on an orange alert due to severe thunderstorms and flooding. A violent storm passed through the area, bringing torrential rain, lightning, and thunder. In Toulon, a river overflowed its banks, and several vehicles were submerged in the La Rode neighborhood.
