Japan: Heavy Snowfall Hits Sea Of Japan Coast

Heavy snowfall has battered a wide area of Japan, especially the Hokuriku region along the Sea of Japan coast. In Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, the amount of snow that fell over a 24-hour period until 3 a.m. reached 57 centimeters, marking the highest recorded snowfall for February in history.

OFF PHYKET, Thailand - Crew of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force destroyer Takanami recover an unidentified body believed to be of an adult man off the Thai resort island of Phuket on Dec. 29 shortly after they began searching for victims of Sunday's earthquake and tsunamis.
