Tama Zoo celebrates 50th anniversary, opens giant bird cages

TOKYO, Japan - Tama Zoological Park in Hino, western Tokyo, opens two giant bird cages May 1. The bird cages, each about 8 meters high with a total area of 1,870 square meters, enable visitors to walk inside and view about 50 birds of five kinds. The zoo held a ceremony the same day ahead of its 50th anniversary on May 5.
