Japanese golfer Sugihara dies at 74

TOKYO, Japan - The late Teruo Sugihara (L) and Ayako Okamoto, shown in these undated file photos, are among the four players chosen to be inducted into the Japan Professional Golf Hall of Fame at a ceremony set for February 2015. Sugihara won 63 times worldwide in a career spanning more than 50 years. Okamoto, who won 17 times on the U.S. LPGA tour, was voted into the World Hall of Fame in 2005.

NAGOYA, Japan - Veteran golfer Teruo Sugihara shows off a watch he was presented with to celebrate his playing in the Chunichi Crowns for 50 years in a row at Nagoya Golf Club, Wago Course in Aichi Prefecture on April 30. The 71-year-old golfer placed in the cellar, at 114th, posting a 14-over 84 in the first round of the tournament which began the same day.
