According to the reports, the accident took place in the morning on the National Highway near Jhirk area of the city when the vehicles coming from opposite directions, on a single-track road, collided with each other. Upon receiving the information, the rescue workers reached the site and shifted the victims to a local hospital, said the rescue service, adding that some of the patients were later taken to another hospital for further treatment. Sindh Integrated Emergency & Health Services said that a truck hit a van from the front near the Chillia area of Thatta. All nine people on board in the van were killed on the spot after their vehicle was crushed by the speeding truck on the highway. Police and rescue teams rushed to the site and shifted the bodies to a nearby hospital. The deceased were on their way back to their homes in the southern port city of Karachi after finishing their picnic at the Keenjhar Lake in the district when the accident happened.
