(240519) -- CHANGSHA, May 19, 2024 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Yongsheng and his family have a rest at home in Changsha, central China's Hunan Province, May 17, 2024. Though hearing-impaired, Zhang Yongsheng and his wife Zhan Jingwen managed to make their daughter, who also suffers from the same disability, hear at the age of two. By running a snack stall at a night market and thanks to support from their relatives and friends, the couple managed to afford a cochlear implant for her daughter's left ear and a hearing aid for the daughter's right ear. "It is too expensive to have the similar treatment for me and my wife, and we have already been accustomed to the silent world anyway. What we want is to make sure our daughter can hear." Earlier this year, when the family's story was spread out by a blogger, they surprisingly received loads of kindness and encouragement from a lot of strangers. Thanks to the hearing aids donated to them in January, Zhang Yongsheng heard his daughter calling "dad" for the first t

Yuehe historical area, which covers an area of 90,000 square meters, could date back to the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1911). With the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, Waiyue river and Liyue river flowing through, the area is the most complete and largest historical area in Jiaxing City that can best showcase the residential and cultural characteristics of the water town in "Jiangnan," the scenic region south of the Yangtze River. Since 2003, various measures were taken to regain the prosperity of the area: more than 80,000 square meters of traditional residential buildings were restored in traditional style, and a tourism industry has been developed taking advantages of local historical heritages. Farmers Are Also Protesting In Italy

Farmers Are Also Protesting In Italy

Farmers protest on January 26, 2024 in Rieti, central Italy. In every corner of Italy, tractors leave the fields to gather in the squares of the most important Italian cities. After taking shape in Germany in the very first days of the year, the primary sector protest quickly spread to France and almost the rest of the European Union. The reasons are now known: increased fuel prices, damage from bad weather or plant diseases that have never been compensated (or only partially compensated), competition from non-European countries, no to synthetic or insect-based food.
