A massive swarm of mayflies has swept over bridges spanning the Kiso River between Aichi and Gifu prefectures, a recurring September phenomenon in the area. Footage shows the insects, drawn to lights, obscuring drivers' visibility, while their carcasses have piled up on the road surface, creating slippery conditions that motorcyclists have called dangerous. Experts say the swarm could persist for about a week and are urging drivers to slow down and keep windows closed.
