It has set up its first plant outside China, Contemporary Amperex Technology Thuringia GmbH (CATT), in Thuringia, Germany. The first batch of lithium-ion battery cells passed all tests and will be delivered to European customers. CATT says it will stay committed to Europe's e-mobility transition. CATT received the permit for battery cell production from the state of Thuringia in April 2022. With a total investment of up to 1.8 billion Euros, CATL plans to achieve a production capacity of 14GWh and create up to 2,000 new jobs in Germany.
