Marine in Okinawa rape case wants trial moved to U.S.

NAHA, Japan - Toshimitsu Takaesu (R), a lawyer for U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Michael Brown, accused of attempting to rape a woman in Okinawa last November, meets reporters after the first hearing of his trial at the Naha District Court on March 13. Takaesu said Brown is innocent and the trial should be moved to the United States. At left is New York lawyer Michael Griffith, whom Takaesu is expected to ask the court be admitted to the trial as a special lawyer for Brown.
