Kennedy writes woman letter of thanks for dolls sent to White House

Photo taken on Feb. 26, 2015, shows a letter of appreciation (L) written by U.S. Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy to a 92-year-old Japanese woman in Kitami, Hokkaido, thanking her for a set of traditional "hina" Japanese dolls sent to the White House in 1962 when the envoy's father John F. Kennedy was the U.S. president. Tsuyako Matsumoto, who sent the doll, received the letter along with a Japanese translation (R) from JoEllen Gorg, principal officer at the U.S. Consulate General in Sapporo.
