Ethiopia wins Yokohama int'l women's ekiden

YOKOHAMA, Japan - Mestawat Tufa crosses the finish line to bring victory to Ethiopia in the Yokohama International Women's Ekiden on Feb. 22. The six-member Ethiopian team, which included Sydney Olympic 10,000-meter gold medallist Derartu Tulu, completed the 42.195-km distance in 2 hours, 15 minutes, 46 seconds for its first victory at the annual meet. Defending champion Russia placed second and Japan third.
