Families elated after Taliban free all South Korean hostages

SEOUL, South Korea - Family members of the South Korean hostages seized by the Taliban in Afghanistan are elated after the last seven hostages were released in Ghazni, Afghanistan on Aug. 30. Twenty-three South Korean Christian aid workers were seized by Taliban militants on July 19 and two men were killed by their captors.

BANGKOK, Thailand - Twenty-three refugees from Myanmar are pictured at Bangkok's international airport on Sept. 26, 2014, before their departure for Japan. Twenty-three children and staff at Funabori Chuo Hoikuen were taken to hospitals, but none showed serious signs of illness.

GSDF mission leaves for Golan Heights

NARITA, Japan - Members of Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) leave Narita airport Jan. 28 to join a U.N. peacekeeping mission on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Twenty-three GSDF members departed on the day and others will depart later to make up a 43-strong GSDF contingent assigned to the U.N. Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) until the end of August.
