Typhoon Banyan was located about 550 kilometers west northwest of Chichijima Island in the Ogasawara island chain in the Pacific at 6 p.m. and was heading north at about 30 km per hour. Banyan is expected to close in on the Pacific coast of central and eastern Japan on late July 26.
