The Uji River

View of the upper reaches of the Ujigawa River looking southeast. At the eastern edge of the bridge stands a two-story irimoya style inn, built on stone riverbank reinforcements. A few boats are docked at the quay. A boat in the river carries a passenger with a parasol. Visible in the far left background is Tachibana Island and Tonoshima Island, with Mt. Drying rice

View from a riverbank or sand bar. The riverbank, rich with greenery, has been reinforced with rocks. The rice has been hung out to dry on the riverbank. A farmer is standing in the centre of the picture. The wooden poles in the river may mark a fishing area. The height of the riverbank reinforcements indicates that this is a scene on the Ujigawa River, between the Kangetsu Bridge and Yodo. It appears to be around the month of October.==Date:unknown, Place:Kyoto, Photo:unknown, (Credit:Nagasaki University Library/Kyodo News Images) [Cabinet Number46‐95‐0]
