A stray dog seeks shade under an old water tank at the cracked bed of Rawal Dam, whose water levels have plummeted due to record low rainfall, in Islamabad, Pakistan on June 16, 2025. Authorities warn that Rawal, Simli and Khanpur dams — key sources of water for Islamabad and Rawalpindi — are barely sufficient to meet the next two months of demand, as the monsoon's delay threatens a severe water crisis. An abandoned hospital bed sits in a service area of the hospital, a symbol of the chaotic conditions within healthcare facilities during the ongoing crisis on October 22, 2024. U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said on Wednesday that he had not seen evidence that there was a Hezbollah bunker filled with cash built under a hospital in Beirut, adding that Washington would continue to work with Israel to get better insights. Israel's military said that Hezbollah has stashed hundreds of millions of dollars in cash and gold in a bunker built under a hospital in Beirut, adding that it would not strike the facility as it keeps up attacks against the group's financial assets. Crane Collapses As Fire Crews Battle Multiple Blazes - Vancouver

Debris is littered on the bed of a truck after an explosion from a fire on West 41st Avenue in Vancouver, BC, Canada on Tuesday, August 6, 2024. An out-of-control fire destroyed an apartment building under construction in Vancouver’s Dunbar neighbourhood on Tuesday and then spread to several nearby homes, totally engulfing one of them. The blaze was so intense it caused a construction crane to crash down across West 41st Avenue, taking out trolley lines and power lines and leading to power outages south of the road. Thick plumes of smoke and large chunks of burning embers drifted west, east and north across the surrounding blocks. Photo by Ethan Cairns/CP/ABACAPRESS.COM

Carpenter’s Tools Found In A Room In A Villa In Pompeii - Italy

Carpenter’s tools have been discovered in a Roman Villa of the servile neighborhood of Civita Giuliana in the suburb of the ancient city of Pompeii, Italy in May 2024. The room contains a bed, as well as work tools and what appears to be a frame, perhaps of another bed, disassembled: baskets, a long rope, pieces of wood, and a saw with a blade, which does not seem very different from traditional saws used until recently, are also recognized. Even a piece of rope has been identified as an imprint in the ground, which kept it under tension. The room was exceptionally well-preserved and it was possible to make casts of furniture and other objects made of perishable materials: wood, fabrics, ropes. The technique of making casts, systematically experimented with since 1863 with the creation of the first casts of the victims of the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD, is unique in the world as it is the result of the specific dynamics of the catastrophic event: people or objects dragged and covered by the ‘pyroclastic fl

River Buriganga Pollution - Dhaka

River Buriganga Pollution - Dhaka

Wastage plastic material dumped on the River Buriganga, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, April 23, 2024. Plastic is being found just by digging into the soil on the banks of Buriganga. Plastic is showing up even seven feet under the ground. These plastics from the banks later sink to the river bed. It has been found that some of these plastics are even older than a decade. And these remained almost the same, unaltered. Such images surfaced in an ongoing study about the presence of plastic in the soil on Buriganga banks. There is much discussion on plastic accumulated on the river beds as well as floating on the rivers Buriganga, Balu, Turag, Dhaleshwari and Shitalakhya, the five rivers surrounding Dhaka.
