Computer system for 'virtual receptionist' released

TOKYO, Japan - Photo shows a new computer system in which a ''virtual receptionist'' can welcome visitors in a way that a real receptionist does released March 25 by high-tech upstart A.G.I. Inc. The new system, priced at 1.8 million yen, enables the virtual receptionist, who appears on the computer screen, to communicate with visitors properly and refer them to appropriate persons or sections within a company, A.G.I. officials said.
