SAPPORO, Japan - The Japanese Meteorological Agency said March 30 it has confirmed gaps and cracks over a length of more than 100 meters on the northwest side of Mt. Usu, the 732-meter volcano in Hokkaido, northern Japan, which volcanologists have warned could erupt in the next few days.
