The Holy Mother of God Church, a relic from the 7th Century nestled in Voskepar, Tavush Province, stands along the new border with Azerbaijan just several meters away from the barbed wire dividing line on August 18, 2024. Protests Follow Armenia-Azerbaijan Agreement

Residents of Tavush protest, and block the Yerevan-Tbilisi interstate road between Kirants and Voskepar in Kirants, Armenia on Sunday, April 21, 2024. Residents of several Armenian communities in northeast Tavush Province began protests late on April 19 after Armenia and Azerbaijan authorities announced a border delimitation deal where Azerbaijan will regain control of four former Azeri populated villages which have been abandoned since the early 1990s.Tensions have also continued to rise in both Voskepar and Kirants as villagers are not allowing NSS to define the villages in preparation for the surrender of some Armenian villages and ceding of land to Azerbaijan.
