Briefing on murder of Iryna Farion in Lviv

LVIV, UKRAINE - JULY 26, 2024 - Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Klymenko (2nd L), Head of the National Police of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivskyi (C), Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Anton Voitenko (2nd R)and head of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region Oleksandr Shliakhovskyi (R) attend a joint briefing of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, National Police, Prosecutor Generals Office and Security Service on the detention of 18-year-old Viacheslav Zinchenko, who is suspected of murdering linguistic professor and former MP Iryna Farion, Lviv, western Ukraine. Iryna Farion was shot in the temple outside her apartment building in Lviv at approximately 19:30 local time on July 19. Later that day, the professor died in hospital. The suspect, who is now facing charges of deliberate murder, was detained in Dnipro on July 25.
