Winter patrol starts at popular Mt. Daisen in Tottori

YANAGO, Japan - A mountain ranger hands out safety pamphlets to a mountain climber at the entrance of a mountain trail on Mt. Daisen on Dec. 24 as winter patrol officially gets under way in the popular winter mountain climbing resort in Tottori Prefecture. Winter patrol on Mt. Daisen, organized by Tottori police and local mountaineering volunteers, operates during the New Year holidays as well as the weekends through the end of March. (Kyodo)
