People gathered to celebrate in Seoul on Saturday, December 14, after the National Assembly voted to impeach President Yoon Suk-yeol, who briefly declared martial law on December 3. Prime Minister Han Duck-soo is now serving as acting president.

South Korean President Yoon Seok-yeo declared martial law late on Tuesday, December 3, accusing the opposition of anti-national activities. However, he lifted the order early Wednesday after the National Assembly passed a resolution calling for its removal. After the emergency order was lifted, protesters gathered around the parliament in Yeouido, calling for Yoon's resignation.
