Niigata governor hits nuclear watchdog over plant restart

TOKYO, Japan - Niigata Gov. Hirohiko Izumida says at the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan in Tokyo on Oct. 15, 2014, that the Nuclear Regulation Authority is only examining the adequateness of its new regulatory standards for nuclear power plants when it should seek to ensure their safety before approving the planned restart of some of them.
