China: Rare ‘Buddha’s Light’ Halo Seen on Sichuan Mountain

This breathtaking moment captures a rare “Buddha’s Light” phenomenon encircling a hiker’s head on a mountaintop trail. On June 5, 2025, while hiking Jiuding Mountain in Sichuan, a man recorded a vivid, rainbow-colored halo — known as a “Buddha’s Light” or Brocken Spectre — forming around his head in the misty air. The optical illusion followed him for several meters, creating a surreal, almost mystical scene as he walked through the fog. According to the hiker, Mr. He, the phenomenon appeared not only around his own head but also around those of other nearby hikers, lasting for about 30 seconds. The video ends with the glowing halo slowly fading as the group continued along the mist-covered trail."

Pope Francis Dies Aged 88

Pope Francis Dies Aged 88

File photo - File photo - Pope Francis visited Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI at his residence, the former Convent Mater Ecclesiae, in the Vatican on June 30, 2015 to greet him and wish him a pleasant stay in Castel Gandolfo in the Roman hills. Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI is leaving the Vatican for his first sojourn since retiring. He's escaping an impending heat wave by heading to the papal summer residence at Castel Gandolfo. The meeting lasted about half and hour. Pope Emeritus Benedict will remain in Castel Gandolfo for the next two weeks. He is scheduled to return  on July 14.  - Former Pope Benedict XVI has died at his Vatican residence, aged 95, almost a decade after he stood down because of ailing health. He led the Catholic Church for less than eight years until, in 2013, he became the first Pope to resign since Gregory XII in 1415. -- Pope Francis died on Easter Monday, April 21, 2025, at the age of 88 at his residence in the Vatican's Casa Santa Marta. Spectacular Frescoed Villa Uncovered in Pompeii - Italy

Spectacular Frescoed Villa Uncovered in Pompeii - Italy

A spectacular frescoed Villa resembling the famous 'Villa of the Mysteries' was uncovered at Pompeii archaeological site, Italy on February 2025. The newly found residence has a large banquet hall frescoed with a cycle of paintings depicting initiation into the Dionysian Mysteries. The fresco, dating to 40-30 BC, presents vivid imagery of Dionysian followers in states of ritualistic ecstasy, dancing and hunting, resembling the frescoes of the nearby famous Villa of the Mysteries which were uncovered 100 years ago. The frescoed walls have still vibrant colors: on a Pompeian red background, full figures emerge, very similar to those of the famous Villa of the Mysteries, albeit in a different style. It was a sumptuous environment where it is not difficult to imagine lavish receptions where guests, reclining on triclinia, ate, drank, and watched small performances. Excavated in recent weeks in the central area of Pompeii, the new room shows this frieze at almost life size, or a 'megalography', just as in the Vill
