The bugs have swept through Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and Colorado. The insects are particularly attracted to wheat, safflower and alfalfa fields, and can leave a wake of destruction in their path. The bugs can't fly but can travel long distances by hopping and crawling, and have become an annoyance as they enter buildings and bring with them a rather unpleasant sensation.
