Osaka taxi firm unveils new anticrime device featuring light, sound

OSAKA, Japan - A taxi driver tests a new anticrime device in Osaka on Jan. 9, pushing an emergency button to trigger an SOS signal, turn on a light installed above the rearview mirror to shine on an attacker in the backseat, and sound the taxi's horn. An Osaka taxi company, one of whose drivers was seriously injured in an armed robbery early this week, has developed the device to deter attacks.
