Ainu old people

A man is wearing a ritual crown with an image on the front edge. He is wearing a costume with embroidered designs on the appliqu?. He is also wearing a war coat and holding a sacred wooden stick in his right hand. These are probably the same as the objects in photograph #2368). He is carrying a ritual sword called an emus. Ainu women

The three women all have tattoos around the mouth area (left untinted?). They wear earrings with beads. The woman on each side wears an embroidered cotton coat over appliqu? and a necklace with tassels. In the centre foreground is a set of a lacquerware bowls, bo twigs, shu sake wine and a hei spatula, all indispensable to Ainu rituals.
