US: Secret Service Shoots Armed Man Near White House, Bystander Wounded

Secret Service agents shot and wounded an armed man near the White House on Monday, May 4 after he fired at officers. A 15-year-old bystander was grazed but sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The episode began around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of 15th Street Southwest and Independence Avenue, when officers approached the man, who then fled on foot and fired at them. President Trump was inside the White House and was not in danger. No law enforcement officers were injured. The shooting came just over a week after a separate armed attack at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

Sakurajima volcano erupted on Tuesday, April 21 at around 10 a.m., sending a plume of smoke 2,400 meters above the crater. The volume of the eruption plume was described as slightly large. The April 21 eruption was the eighth explosion recorded at Sakurajima since the first of the year was observed on April 11. By the morning of April 22, volcanic ash had accumulated on car hoods and road surfaces in Kagoshima City. The city deployed water-spraying trucks to clean the ash from the streets.

India: Plane Takes Off Amid Dense Fog at Delhi Airport

Dense fog over the past several days has continued to disrupt air and rail travel across parts of India, with conditions peaking on Monday, December 29, when Delhi’s IGI Airport saw 128 flight cancellations, dozens of delays, and several diversions as visibility dropped to around 125 meters. Fog has affected airports across north and eastern India and delayed many trains, prompting weather authorities to issue orange alerts for Delhi-NCR and nearby states and warn of continued disruption into the New Year. Celebration of the 'Feira do Capón de Vilalba', on December 21, 2025, in Vilalba, Lugo, Galicia (Spain). It is a popular fair with more than 200 years of antiquity celebrated every year around December 21 and has international repercussion. It begins in the early hours of the day with the sale of this emblematic Christmas product, enlivened by the performance of several folk groups. The star of the fair are the "capons", chickens fed by hand with balls of cornmeal and potato dough, which during the fattening season are placed in cages called "capoeiras" to immobilize them and accelerate their fattening until the time of slaughter, the day before the fair.
