Repaired Shosoin treasure house in Nara shown to press

NARA, Japan - The Shosoin repository, a national treasure in Nara, western Japan, is shown to the press on Oct. 21, 2014, following the completion of its first major repairs in about 100 years. Featuring an "azekura" log-cabin style with a raised floor, the treasure house will be open to the public from Oct. 25 for the first time since 2011.

The Kamijinko (sacred storehouse),Toshogu Shrine,Nikko

To the left is the Yomei Gate and the Bell Tower, and to the right is the Joshinko. The Joshinko is built in Azekura style with carvings of a white and black elephant roughly sketched by Kano Tanyu. On both sides of the staircase, lanterns donated by feudal lords are placed. The Yomeimon Gate,Toshogu Shrine,Nikko

The Yomei Gate seen from the sanshinko. The steel lantern to the right of the staircase was donated by Date Masamune. Above the stairs to the right is the lotus lantern donated by the Netherlands and a bell presented by the King of Korea. The Kamijinko is seen at the right edge built in Azekura style. The left corner is the Gyosuisha, and next to it is the bronze torii, Rinzo ( storage for scriptures), and the Kami Jinko (warehouse). The Kami Jinko is done in Azekura style, and the end has a statue of two elephants, one white and the other black, their rough drafts drawn by Kano Tanyu.Costumes of a procession of a thousand warriors in the spring and autumn are stored in the three Jinko (Kami, Naka and Shimo). Three sacred storehouses of nikko toshogu shrine

To the right is the Yomei Gate, and the left is the kamijinko (treasure storage of a shrine). The kamijinko is built in Azekura style (store house built of square logs) , inlaid with carvings of a white and black elephant based on a draft by Kano Tanyu at the end of the eaves. To the right of the steps are steel lanterns dedicated by Date Masamune, and stone garden lanterns dedicated by other lords.
