Balloon festival opens

SAGA, Japan - An international hot-air balloon festival opens in Saga, Kyushu, on Nov. 19, with 121 balloons and their crews from 14 countries taking part. The balloonists will compete in three divisions in the five-day festival held along the Kase River.

Some 800,000 spectators are expected to attend the championship, which will involve 101 balloons from 13 countries. The annual event started in 1980.
