Fukudome in Chicago to formalize 4-year deal with the Cubs

CHICAGO, United States - Kosuke Fukudome is all smiles as he banters with reporters on arrival in Chicago on Dec. 18 to sign a four-year contract with the Chicago Cubs reportedly worth $48 million. The 30-year-old former Chunichi Dragons outfielder batted .305 with a .397 on-base percentage and a .543 slugging percentage in 1,074 career games. He was named the Central League's Most Valuable Player in 2006 when he batted .351 with 31 home runs and a career-high 104 RBIs. (Kyodo)
