France: Farmers’ Protests Against Mercosur Expand Across Country, Motorway Blockages Continue

Thousands of European farmers are gathering in Brussels today, December 18, to protest the EU-Mercosur trade deal during a high-stakes European Council summit. In France, the unrest has escalated with motorways being blocked and protests expanding toward major ski resort access routes just ahead of tomorrow's scheduled vote on the agreement. This surge in mobilization follows a massive day of action yesterday, which saw over 3,600 farmers participate in at least 80 separate demonstrations across the country.

Indonesia: Severe Flooding Hits Medan, North Sumatra

On Thursday, November 27, severe flooding completely submerged hundreds of houses in three hamlets of Paya Geli Village (Sunggal Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency). The flooding was caused by the overflowing of the river located behind the residential area. Opposition councilors and citizens blocked the Kraljevo city council in central Serbia on Wednesday, February 19, demanding the resignation of Mayor Predrag Terzić. Following the anti-corruption protest, the mayor was quickly escorted out of the building by police officers. As he was being taken away, a group of protesters threw eggs at both him and the officers, according to reports.
