Illinois Is Hit With Cicada Chaos

NO FILM, NO VIDEO, NO TV, NO DOCUMENTARY - Montreal-based audio artist Alex Lane records cicada mating calls from a tree at Lincoln Memorial Garden and Nature Center in Springfield, Illinois, on June 3 2024. Lane and filmmaker Matthew Wolkow identified the calls as coming from what they believe to be the different cicada broods. Cicada chaos is flourishing and flying. US: Cicadas Begin Emerging In South Carolina, Residents Complain Of Noise

Cicadas have begun emerging from their underground lives and caused quite a considerable amount of noise, prompting South Carolina residents to complain to police on Tuesday, April 23. 2024 is a special year for the bugs as two types of periodical broods, the 13-year Brood XIX cicadas in the Southeast and the 17-year Brood XIII in the Midwest, will emerge from the ground.
